Morning my lovely Mummies! Today is Soulful Saturday, and I thought I would take this opportunity to share how I take time to be thankful. Thankful for what I have, and thankful to myself – because self-care is important for a happy self.

Let’s take a moment today to say what we are thankful for, and create some new intentions to help us feel a little brighter and happier. Especially on these chilly March days!

What are you thankful for?

My question for you today is…Do you make sure to take time for yourself each day, to take stock of what you are thankful for? And, just as importantly – to find a moment for self care, to thank yourself for all that you do. As a mum of two growing boys, I know that sometimes we’re so busy that time for myself seems impossible. With school runs, homework, playdates, shopping, family time AND work… It can seem like the day rushes past before you’ve even had a moment to take stock.

I know that at times being a Mum isn’t easy. I know there are days when I’ve been running around like a headless chicken making sure all my family are catered for. Sometimes we are so busy we don’t take a moment to catch our breath, and enjoy what we have. Sound familiar?

Over the years I’ve learnt that if we continue to run on empty, we reach a point where we are no good to anyone – not even ourselves.

Self-care is important

So I’ve learnt to take that time to just stop and take care of me – and it’s changed my life. Sometimes it can be as simple as taking 15 minutes for myself, first thing in the morning. I can sit with my morning coffee and enjoy the sunrise. Sometimes it’s an afternoon where I plan something special to treat myself.

Journalling

I’ve been journalling now for a while now, and I now do this everyday before the kids get up. During this time of peace and tranquility I take time to appreciate all that I have. I try being present in the moment and realising how incredibly blessed I am with family, friends, my business, and my wonderful clients like you.
